2021 2nd Quarter Newsletter

AFA Family and Friends,

We have arrived to the middle of the year and our nation is healing and getting back to some semblance of normalcy. If you were able to join us for our “What’s Happening in Space” meeting in April, you would have heard our top local Senior Enlisted Leaders speak about how our newly developed service has established ground breaking records. As the Space Force embarks on new and improved paths to keep our nation ahead, we must tackle the challenges of Space Superiority and think of agile and innovative ways to increase our potential as a service. We are so thankful that the Chiefs took a little time from their busy day to share with us some wisdom and perspective of how the future of Space is on a path beyond the stars.

We would like to welcome Joe Baldwin to the team as our liaison to the Arnold Air Society, Silver Wings, and AFROTC Detachments  as he endeavors to bridge the gaps and lead and mentor our next generation to success.  We are still looking for some help with our social medium platform and general membership out reach. If you are interested please contact me (michael.bryant.10@spaceforce.mil) ) and I will explain what we need in the way of help.  As we are quickly approaching the Air Force Ball, please mark your calendars for 18 Sept 21 at the Broadmoor. Again, if you interested to give a helping hand please reach out to afball.lancepsijanafa@gmail.com.  We have a couple of other opportunities for some of you get involved so please consider joining with us to support our Airmen, Guardians and their families. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at michael.bryant.10@spaceforce.mil or to any of our Chapter officers.

Special Mention: Please join me in congratulating our former Sijan Chapter Treasurer, Master Sergeant Justin Althoff, who just received the 2021 Gears of Government Awards Program, which is designed to recognize individuals and teams across the Federal workforce whose performance and dedication support exceptional delivery of key outcomes for the American people in the three areas of: mission results, customer service, and accountable stewardship. He has been a blessing to our chapter and has kept our financial accounts in tip top shape. Justin, well deserved, and best to you and your family and the future of your career! Congratulations to Sijan Chapter member and Colorado AFA State President on receipt of the Mary Anne Thompson Award, a national level AFA recognition for mentorship of Silver Wings.  Linda was nominated by the Silver Wings Chapter at Colorado State University and was selected over many wonderful volunteers and mentors across the nation.

As many of you may know, our Community Partners/Sponsors have been so generous this year. Our plan is to have a Community Partner Reception sometime in the near future, so please be on the lookout for the date and location.

As our nation is moving from one crisis to the next, I urge each of you to continue to share some kindness to your neighbors.

One things is certain and true, “every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and a house divided against a house falleth.” Look to build up and encourage one another. Find someone to help and someone to encourage as we get back. As a Chapter, we are determined to continue to look for ways to support our military and civilian families. We are so excited to see what this year will bring and how our community can finally heal and prove how resilient we truly are. Hope to see you at a Chapter meeting or event or the AF Ball soon.
