Wounded Airmen Program Charity Events

AFA Wounded Airman Program Charity Event (3 Feb, 2000 – 2300, Terrace Room, The Broadmoor). In conjunction with the AFCEA Cyberspace Conference, there will be a charity event designed to raise funds for specific charities.  This year, the proceeds will be shared by the Mount Carmel Center of Excellence and the AFA Wounded Airman Program (WAP). Mt Carmel is establishing a veteran rehabilitation center in Colorado Springs (local charity); the AFA Wounded Airman Program is dedicated to providing aid to Air Force warriors, both directly and through the Air Force Wounded Warrior (AFW2) office. Of special note, 100% of the Program’s funding goes to the Airmen – the Program is administered by the AFA, a completely volunteer organization.

The primary sponsor is CA Technologies. Support for the event will come from Phil Long Ford (represented by retired Denver Bronco Randy Gradishar) and US Olympic athletes. The format for the event is a cocktail party with hors d’oeuvres, and includes a silent auction and donation opportunities. Background music will be provided by Gentle Rain, a local group consisting of retired members of the Air Force Band.  Dress is UOD / business casual.

This is a great opportunity to provide scarce funds to our Wounded Airmen Program and again, I urge your attendance.

So, the year has barely begun and the challenges are many and growing.  And we have to rise up and meet them head on.
